Big Sean Reveals 'Detroit 2' Release Date & Cover Art

Fans have been waiting for Big Sean to drop his new album — the followup to 2017's I Decided — for a while, and now, they won't have to wait too much longer, because the rapper revealed when he's releasing his highly anticipated project, and even shared its cover art.

On social media, Sean shared that his new album Detroit 2 will drop on September 4th. He wrote, along with the album art, "My fifth album #Detroit2 September 4th."

The Detroit 2 album cover art shows Sean on a sidewalk next to a metal garbage can full of flowers as band of four guys are floating above him playing drums on overturned buckets (also full of flowers).

Just a few days ago, Sean teased fans about Detroit 2 when he shared some photos from the studio, letting fans know that he was done recording the album, while also wearing a Detroit 2 t-shirt. He said, "I feel nothing but happy! Finally done recording #D2 Time for mixing."

And apparently, the shirt was already being "bootlegged," because in a tweet, Sean explained to fans, "Aye people bootlegged these shirts in 30 mins lol. 4real. I’m a work on getting the real ones to y’all tomorrow, don’t buy s*** that ain’t come from me or my site #D2."

Sean announced his fifth album back in March and talked about what Detroit means to him. He explained, "Detroit. To me it's home. But, I feel like it's more than just a city, you know? It's, for real, a mentality."

Big Sean also mentioned in the announcement, "I've been going back, listening to music that impacted me growing up. You know, songs I hear on the radio every day, but I didn't even realize was only poppin' in Detroit." He added, "It feels like a whole new energy in the city, you know? It's inspiring to watch, to the point [that] it inspired me to go harder than ever. It's like the Phoenix rising out [of] the ashes."
