Halsey gave her fans a glimpse of her personal life in a recent interview. In a candid Q&A with journalist Lizzy Goldman at the sixth annual Capitol Congress, she touched on various topics that may come as a shock to some people.
Talking about her upcoming 25th birthday, Halsey said "I'm going to be 25 in two months. I'm a quarter of a century old. I didn't think I was going to be alive that long." Also on the topic of her birthday, she said "This is controversial... I'm going to be 25 and it's a miracle I haven't killed myself yet." The "Nightmare" singer mentioned that this mentality was due to the fact that she grew up dealing with her bipolar disorder, and most young people living with that disorder don't have the resources to let them "end up thriving at 25."
Halsey also touched on her upcoming new music as well, and she dropped some hints about her third album. She said that the record "has anger, betrayal and confusion, but it's more inward that I intended it to be." While she went in wanting to write about the world around her, she said "I got two songs in and realized I only know about me... this album is less dystopian fantasy world and more like, this is what I'm thinking right now: the world sucks."
Even though Halsey's now a household name and one of the world's biggest superstars, she still remembers her roots and who believed in her in the beginning. Talking about signing with Capitol when she was a teen, she said "They have seen me grow up since I was 19 years old."
Speaking about her past relationships, she touched on what her 19-year-old self would think her life would be like now. "I thought that I would have been able to keep a boyfriend longer than this, so that's a starter," she said. She's currently in a relationship with the singer Yungblud, and the two celebrated his birthday together recently.
Halsey may have touched on some deep topics, but she ended the Q&A on a positive note by mentioning her activism and charity work. "I go to bed and wake up thinking the same thing: thinking about how I can changed the world. Hopefully, I never lose that and the day I do, take me out into the yard guys. I'm serious."
Just based off her partnerships with the ALCU and Planned Parenthood, most fans would agree that she's doing a pretty great job at changing the world.
